Cleveland Theatre Company visit Abbey Hill

The Cleveland Theatre Company came into school to produce a play with a number of students from 10SB and post 16 students. The play was called DON`T FORGET TO REMEMBER

The play starts with the end of the story. Richard tells us he’s had a strange day, a really difficult day. Then we go back to the beginning of the day to see exactly what happened.

Richard is in his bedroom, getting ready for school. He introduces us to all the people who’ve been part of his day: there’s his mum, who worries about Richard because he’s always forgetting things; there’s his sister Debbie, who’s just had a baby and is finding it difficult to cope; there’s his teacher, Mr Smart, who reminds Richard there’s something special he has to do today; there’s the manager of the supermarket where Richard hopes to get a job; and there’s Anna, Richard’s friend. Richard likes Anna very much and he wants her to be his girlfriend.

The first activity for the students taking part was name games (this helped us all to remember each others name).
We watched the play rehearsals, then we learnt some songs, the students picked this up very quickly and then worked on the actions or dance to the song.

Art work was also produced that was going to be included in the play i.e. the tills, rattle shakers, badges and posters.
Once everything was ready we rehearsed our parts in the play. On Friday morning parents and pupils came to see the show.

The students received Records of Achievements and Suzanne and Elaine received a portfolio of all the songs (as they still need the practice)

Everyone thought the play was good and they all really enjoyed it.
The staff and students taking part, had a great time and lots of fun!!
