In the Tuesday and Wednesday options for years 10 and 11, we have
been doing mechanics since September.
We designed our overalls and visited the factory where they were
made for us. We also visited a cycle shop in Stockton to buy bike
parts.
We have been learning about the different parts of bicycles and,
with loads of new tools, we have been repairing cycles at reasonable
prices for teachers and students.
We have also been taking old bicycles apart so that we can build
up a stock of spare parts.
Our next step is to start to design and build up our own bikes
from spare parts. We also intend to spend the money we have made
on buying two scrap motorbikes, which we will restore.
We owe a massive thank you to Vic Brown our former site manager
for volunteering to set the workshop up each session and for sharing
his mechanical
skills
with us.
We are always on the look out for cycles to repair for money or
for spare parts. All the owners of the ten bikes we have fixed
have been very happy with our work.
