Welcome to ICT at Abbey Hill.

IT 1 has a suite of 14 networked Intelli-desk computers (See below) and an interactive whiteboard.

Preparation for adult life

ICT Suite

Our students with moderate learning difficulties use IT1 for their ICT lessons. Each student gets 1, 40-minute session per week and also has the opportunity to pick ICT as an option.

We follow the ICT Key Stage 3 strategy at a level appropriate to our students.

Intelidesks

The computers fold flat so the room can be used as an ordinary classroom with rows of desks. In the picture are students in the process of folding the computers away.

IT2 has a suite of 13-networked RM computers, 1 touch screen computer and an interactive whiteboard. By September 2004 IT2 will be more accessible by our students with severe learning difficulties. This includes concept keyboards, switches and other peripherals. Our students with severe learning difficulties use IT2 for their ICT lessons. ICT lessons are based on a topic or theme, which changes every half term and it is made as individual and fun as possible.

Control Technology In a control technology lesson, students are programming pixie (a robot) to knock down as many skittles as possible!!
Moving a robot Students gaining experience of and using remote control skateboards and cars.
