PSHE and Citizenship at Abbey Hill

The Personal, Social and Health Education curriculum at Abbey Hill is one that aims to be as practical as possible, link with as many other curriculum areas and external agencies as possible and is structured to build upon the strengths of the students. As well as a well established drugs and sex education programmes in each year of study the students also have the opportunity to develop their self confidence, knowledge, skills and citizenship competencies through local, national and international projects such as;

European road safety
Vegetable garden and environmental trail
Recycling
School promotional videos

After this foundation work in PSHE, the more able students embark upon the OCR ELC in Citizenship studies in years 10 & 11. Students are currently working on projects which will help gain the "Stockton Healthy Schools Silver Award" These include a "Axel Alien" a Drug Awareness Animation and "Deal with Bullying" a short film.
